This week at the community allotment it's all been about sorting out the water cube. The pallets it was sitting on had collapsed so we had to empty out 1000 litres, create a new platform and then refill it! We've also been storm proofing some of the structures, de-snailing the brassicas and sorting out the hotbin. Big thanks to everyon who came and helped. ... See MoreSee Less

Another jam packed day yesterday. Sadly Al and I weren't there as we are recovering from Covid but the Repair Cafe team were brilliant (as ever) and we had some great feedback. Thanks to Louise and Carol for the photos (sadly couldn't post all of them) and to everyone who stepped up and made it all possible. ... See MoreSee Less

This is pretty typical of some manufacturers - when I asked one of our repairers how he was getting on with a really difficult repair, this is what he said: "Thanks to the manufacturer of the lamp, all the nuts on the threaded section had been cleverly Araldited together. It might stop them from unscrewing, but is no help when trying to repair! I had to saw through the threaded part to separate it from the ceramic base. I also need to replace the mains cable and switch. The switch is also glued together." They really don't make it easy for us!
When are you there next?I would like to book to have some trousers taken up please.
Get well soon 💚
Expert speakers hosted an afternoon of climate-related conversation yesterday as residents, business owners and community groups gathered to discuss how collaboration can drive sustainability and support our communities.
The conference at Worthing Assembly Hall was created by Community Works and supported by Climate Resilience Centre Worthing - CREW, Transition Town Worthing and Green Tides - Adur and Worthing Green Spaces Partnership.
Innovative real-world examples of how we can all transition to sustainable practices were shared by speakers, as well as success stories from organisations that have already made significant progress in reducing their carbon footprint and saved money in the process.
Cllr Sophie Cox, Worthing’s cabinet member for climate emergency, attended the event to engage with residents and businesses on the net zero journey in Worthing.
Cllr Cox said: “The climate conference held this week was so inspiring and I was pleased to be able to attend and hear from visitors about how they can be part of our town-wide journey to net zero. Huge thanks to all the groups who worked so hard on putting the event together.” ... See MoreSee Less

We had a fab group at Climate Resilience Centre Worthing - CREW last night! We went all Circular with our flowers - fresh blooms we gift to Broadwater Support Group & Community Hub, dried flowers we sell at Hisbe, spent blooms we used to dye cloth (and which could make paint & ink) and which then end up in the compost, breaking down to feed new life. Our lovely, engaged Crew went home ready to compost and to embrace the Circular in life! Next session Nov 8 we’ll focus on propagating, including hardwood cuttings🌳(and hopefully making cordage from nettles!) and Dec 13 will of course be Festive Evergreen Decorations! 🎄 Book through EventBrite. ...
