Richard Battson and Merry Curd, who have been TTW members since we began, have a delightful, tranquil little urban wood in the heart of Broadwater. They would very much like others to benefit from its peace and beauty, so we wondered whether anyone would be interested in forming a little Friends Group to enjoy this lovely space and help with maintenance - which is pretty minimal, as it's a rewilded space so just needs a bit of tweaking when things get a bit rampant!
If anyone is interested in visiting to take a look before committing to anything, please contact Richard or Merry on 01903 231706. ... See MoreSee Less

Ever since I found out that earthworms have taste buds all over the delicate pink strings of their bodies, I pause dropping apple peels into the compost bin, imagine the dark, writhing ecstasy, the sweetness of apples permeating their pores. I offer beets and parsley, avocado, and melon, the feathery tops of carrots.
I’d always thought theirs a menial life, eyeless and hidden, almost vulgar—though now, it seems, they bear a pleasure so sublime, so decadent, I want to contribute however I can, forgetting, a moment, my place on the menu.

Very busy day yesterday at the Repair Cafe, huge thanks to all our wonderful volunteers and those who chose to repair rather than bin stuff.
36 repairs brought in and we managed to fix a lot of them. Sadly there are always some that can't be mended as they are designed not to be repairable - either almost impossible to dismantle or put back together again, or spare parts unavailable. The right to repair law leaves a lot still to be desired (see www.wired.co.uk/article/right-to-repair-uk) ... See MoreSee Less

Such a great concept and community to be part of. When we get to where we're going, we'll have to start one of our own 😊
