Seed Swap 2026

Seed Swap, Sow & Grow: March 14th 2026, 10.30am-3pm, Maybridge Keystone Centre BN12 6JD

Please save the date for TTW’s annual Spring Fair! It’s a great opportunity to get your seedy supplies, buy locally made sustainable products, find out about outdoor volunteering opportunities, and enjoy some delicious hot drinks and cakes indoors or wood-fired pizza cooked outside. We’re expanding into a second hall for interactive stalls and talks on the ‘food cycle’: reducing food packaging and food waste, confidence with cooking, preparing and preserving food, growing food, pollinators and composting.

As always, we welcome donations of cakes for us to sell in the café and offers to help on TTW stalls and in the café. And we would be really grateful if anyone could use their culinary skills to prepare a big batch of pizza dough (ideally sourdough), so we don’t have to buy it in. Eco Open Houses 2026

Our team have been working really hard to get the case studies and fringe events organised and we are now well on the way with the brochure design, which we hope to be able to share with you soon.

We have 20 properties to visit to learn how to save money on energy and water bills, how to do the very best you can to reduce your impact on the planet whilst having warm, cosy, stylish properties to live and work in. We’ve also been working on surface water flood prevention recommendations and fixes too.

We will publish a full list of dates, times, events etc soon but please do keep the dates free – 7th-19th April – open houses on both weekend and fringe events during the weekday (daytimes and evenings). We’ll have tours, talks/presentations and workshops, and a film to take part in.

We will need lots of stewards to help meet and greet, record visitor numbers and encourage people to fill in feedback forms. If you’d like to help, please email us at [email protected]. You’ll be a vital part of a lovely team – and we need your help!

Please keep the date free for our next Seed Swap event, which will be held again at Maybridge Keystone Centre, Raleigh Way, Goring-by-Sea, Worthing BN12 6JD on Saturday 14th March 2026.

Opening times to be announced nearer the time but we will need volunteers please to help man stalls, do refreshments and generally help out, so if you can put the date in your diary now, that would be really helpful.

Also do start saving seeds and plants now!

TTW AGM – Sunday 23rd November

Eco Open Houses 2026 – Save the Dates!

We’re excited to share that plans are coming together for a joint Eco Open Houses event in April 2026, in collaboration with Transition Town Shoreham and now also Greening Steyning!

Please save the weekends of 11/12 & 18/19 April 2026 if you’d like to take part in this inspiring, fun and informative event showcasing eco-friendly homes, gardens, businesses and community projects across Worthing, Adur, Shoreham and Steyning.

This will be our first live Eco Open Houses event since the one we sadly had to cancel due to the first lockdown – so we’re really looking forward to bringing it back. The event is dependent on funding, which we are currently applying for, so fingers crossed! We’ll share more details as plans are firmed up over the coming months.

In the meantime, we’re starting to build our volunteer team – would you like to help? We’ll need friendly faces to help steward homes, gardens, talks, tours and workshops. It’s not difficult, it’s a lot of fun, and a great way to learn more about sustainable living while being part of something positive in your community.

We’re also now looking for potential eco homes, gardens, businesses or fringe events to include in the programme. If you’re interested in volunteering or would like us to consider your property or idea, please email us at [email protected]

Energy Company/Cooperative for Worthing

A public meeting arranged by CREW is being held on 20th Oct at the Heene Community Centre starting at 6.45pm, to form an Energy Company/Cooperative for Worthing – there’s already over 500 of these in existence across the country.

The main speaker is Chris Rowland from OVESCO Lewes, the energy company that he helped to set up in 2005. The meeting will be chaired by Bob Smytherman.

The object is to inform everyone about local energy cooperatives/company’s and if there’s enough keen people, to set up a group for Worthing.

People’s Assembly on Transport – Report

Transition Town Worthing and Worthing CREW Transport Group organised a People’s Assembly on Transport on Tuesday 22nd July at Audio Active, Montague Street, Worthing. The aim was to promote more active travel and public transport and to bring our ideas to the attention of our local authorities, that in turn will help them become carbon neutral.

The event opened with presentations by three speakers:

Carole Sharpe spoke on Safer Walking and Uncluttered Pathways for Pedestrians, including concerns about motorised traffic on pavements, rural roads without pavements, shops and shopping malls, as well as thoughts on educating young people about street etiquette.

Kathy Kohl spoke about the barriers to cycling safely, why we need safe cycle lanes wide enough to accommodate adapted bikes, encouraging more people to cycle and secure bike storage/lockups. She gave examples of successful measures in other cities and countries

Rob Vince, Development Manager for Stagecoach South, spoke in his presentation about the current bus market, the way people travel (including their changing behaviour) and the significance of bus priority measures.

The three presentations also included discussion of access and help for the disabled.
The Facilitator for the evening was Worthing Town Crier, Bob Smytherman.

The Assembly then divided into three breakout groups to discuss each subject and to come up with points to be referred to West Sussex County Council and Adur & Worthing Councils for their consideration and action. Many helpful issues were raised and discussed. The Transport Group will now analyse these ideas and then raise these matters with our local authorities.

One of the members of the Transport Group said, “We are extremely pleased with how the event was received and the thoughtful ideas that were put forward by local people. Nearly fifty people attended which was beyond our expectations.”

Book now for our next Repair Café session on Saturday 26th July – 10am-3.30pm at the Quaker Meeting House, 34 Mill Road, Worthing, BN11 5DR.

As usual our amazing team of volunteers will be on hand to share their skills and help you to repair your clothes, toys, bicycles, laptops, computers, small household electrical/electronic items, small items of furniture, costume jewellery and restringing necklaces and knife/scissor sharpening.

Refreshments of hot and cold drinks and cakes will be available at a small cost.
