TTW Receives a Magic Little Grant!

We are extremely grateful to players of The People’s Postcode Lottery as we received notification this month that we’ve been awarded a Magic Little Grant through the partnership between Localgiving and Postcode Society Trust!

Postcode Society Trust is a grant-giving charity funded by players of the People’s Postcode Lottery. Localgiving is the UK’s leading membership and support network for local charities and community groups.

Our greenspaces projects received £500 towards the ongoing running costs of our community gardens.

Sustainable Christmas Market – Sun 4th Dec

The next Sustainable Market will be on Sunday 4th December from 9.30am-1.30pm at Freedom Works car park – opposite the Assembly Hall, Stoke Abbott Road, Worthing, BN11 1HJ.

The last one had to be cancelled due to high winds and heavy rain so we hope this one will be able to go ahead, as we have lots of plants available and various bric a brac items, as well as Twitten Maps.

Sustainable Market – Sunday 6th November

Sunday 6th November – 9.30am-2pm, Freedom Works car park – opposite the Assembly Hall, Stoke Abbott Road, Worthing, BN11 1HJ

Come and support this lovely monthly event in the centre of Worthing. We will be there with plants and bric a brac in exchange for donations and ready to chat about what’s going on locally.

Come and help support your local traders, localism is the way forward!

We often need volunteers to come along and help at the Sustainable Market so if you’d be happy to help man the stall for an hour or so, please email Pauline at [email protected]. It’s good fun and you get to meet some really interesting people, including the other lovely stallholders.

TTW as Community Cause With Zen Internet

TTW has been fortunate to have been chosen as one of three local organisations to receive support by Zen in their Community Force for Good campaign.

Please go to https://www.zen.co.uk/worthingdonation if you are thinking of changing your Broadband provider, as they give us a £50 donation for every new customer, if we are chosen as your “cause.”

TTW Receive Funds From National Lottery!

Great news! The National Lottery “Together For Sustainable Community Climate Action” has awarded TTW with £10,000 to help our community to take practical climate action. Huge thanks to National Lottery players for helping to make this possible.

This will specifically take the form of a digital and physical sustainability map of Worthing as well as workshops and talks to help enable our community to access information about local projects, businesses, community groups and experts that are currently leading the way, or beginning to take steps, to becoming more sustainable and reducing their carbon footprint. By making this info a lot more accessible, this in turn can help inspire others, when they see it’s actually possible for everyone to help in some way.

Once we have created an outline of what we have included in the map, and what we might like to also include, we will post on here ways in which you might be able to help provide additional information, so watch this space….

This very welcome support comes at a time when a group of us are trying to get a climate emergency centre/community hub off the ground. If you haven’t already done so, please could you complete the survey.

Seed Swap, Sow and Grow Fair 2022

Come along on Saturday 19th March for an inspiring morning out at our lovely family sustainability Seed Swap event featuring local makers, producers and growers as well as environmentally supportive organisations.

There will be a wide range of stalls as well as take-away food and drink available. Please bring your empty bottles for refilling with household and personal care products.

This year, we will be holding our Seed Swap between 10am-1pm at Freedom Works covered car park, Stoke Abbott Rd, Worthing BN11 1HJ (opposite the Assembly Hall)

We hope to see you there!

Thank You Co-Op Members!

A huge thank you to all Co-op members who nominated us as their Local Community Cause.
On Friday 19th Nov, we were invited by the Plaza Parade store manager, Stuart Hunt and town crier, Bob Smytherman, a member pioneer for the Co-op to receive a donation of £6178!

We used the money to pay for our wonderful website (and its ongoing running costs) and to help keep us afloat for the past very difficult 18 months, as all our sources of income dried up due to Covid restrictions. Without this support, we most probably would not have survived.

Nominate TTW For £1000 Of Funding!

Please help us by nominating Transition Town Worthing to receive £1000 in funding from Ecclesiastical – the more nominations they receive the more likely we are to get the funding!

https://www.movementforgood.com/12days/#nominateACharity

Please note that when you go to add our name, please tick the “registration exempt” box first – as we are a CIC and not a charity – then type in Transition Town Worthing and choose “environment and climate” as the charity type.

Thank you so much!
